how it all began…
In 2020 Cornerstone Bistro & The Bee Foundation for Brain Aneurysm Prevention combined our love of fine wine and food with our mutual passion to make this world a better place. Cornerstone has long been a supporter of many charities, however The Bee Foundation is at the center of Co-Owner Christine and Nick Kondra’s charitable causes. The Wine Festival is an incredible evening of wine tasting from some of the most exclusive vineyards spanning from Napa, Sonoma, France and Italy. All proceeds from the night will go to TBF in support of brain aneurysm prevention.
Since 2020, the Cornerstone Winter Wine Festival has raised over $400,000 for Brain Aneurysm research, awareness, advocacy and support. The Bee Foundation for Brain Aneurysm Prevention was founded in 2014 with the singular focus of preventing brain aneurysms before they rupture. Co-founders, Christine Kondra and Erin Kreszl, lost their cousin Jennifer Sedney to a ruptured brain aneurysm at the age of 27. Brain aneurysms impact people in the prime of their life with few warning signs. The Bee Foundation has been dedicated to changing the statistics and saving lives. Awareness, Research, Advocacy and Support have been the driving forces to achieving prevention and this has been possible only due to the strength of our incredible community.
Brain aneurysms are a serious and underfunded health issue with frightening statistics:
1 in 50 people suffer from a brain aneurysm
A brain aneurysm ruptures every 18 minutes
Almost 50% of ruptures end in death, with nearly 500,000 deaths per year
Less than $25M in NIH government funding is provided for research each year, which is only $2.97 per person affected
